Zane has over 10 years of experience in the Oil and Gas Industry in a variety of international positions with Schlumberger before he decided to local in Perth and launch a couple resource focused startups. As a startup founder, he built the next generation of data distribution services for all forms of resource data. In addition, he is an active member of the Australian technology startup community, including founding board member of StartupWA, past Lead GovHack Perth Organizer and co-organizer of the Ruby on Rails Oceania group.
Justin is recognized as a leader in Perth’s growing tech startup ecosystem. As a founding director of StartupWA, WA’s peak body for tech startups, Justin advocates on behalf of the growing sector with government and private stakeholders. He grew Morning Startup into the premier group for tech entrepreneurs in Perth, and mentors at Startup Weekend and Founder Institute. Justin is an accomplished speaker and presented for such organisations as DET CRC, AIMEX, IMARC and MINExpo. Justin’s first technology startup built mobile, web, and predictive tools for keeping people safe in operational workplaces.
Justin previously worked in the Silicon Valley, for both a large networking computing company and one of the first companies commercializing artificial intelligence.
Paul is CEO of Mine Vision Systems, one the fastest growing mining-related tech companies in the world today. He is non-executive Director of METS Ignited, an Australian Federal Government initiative into innovation in the mining sector. Paul was previously VP for Technology and Innovation for Gold Fields, one the largest global gold mining companies.
Paul has considerable experience in the mining sector including involvement in several large M&A due diligence projects ranging from $100M through to $2.1B USD where he was the lead on engineering and energy. Paul also has experience in leading large transaction contracts up to $800M. Paul also has experience in working with innovation consulting firms such as VCI and regularly peer reviews papers and submissions in relation to mining technology research and developments. This includes providing advice to Jolimont Capital, a resources-tech focused venture capital fund. Paul is an active supporter of Austmine and well known in the mining technology and innovation space where he is well regarded for his TED style talks at mining conferences such as IMARC and Austmine.
Mikey Kailis has over 6 years experience in a marketing, communications and management capacity since graduating with an undergraduate BArts at the University of Notre Dame and a postgraduate MCom from the University of WA and RMIT. Mikey previously coordinated the Asia Pacific tech startup program: OzAPP Awards and worked as a journalist for Seven News & GWN. Since joining Unearthed, Mikey has grown an international community of startups driving innovation in the global mining & resources sector. Mikey is also a fanatical Manchester United fan & avid traveler.
Industry Lead – Crowdsourcing
As industry lead, Chris is working closely with our industry partners in finding and defining relevant challenges within their businesses. Chris has over 10 years experience in the mining, energy and heavy machinery sector. Prior to his current position with Unearthed, he has lead the Australian mining division of construction and mining equipment manufacturer BAUER AG, where he previously worked as Mechanical Engineer and Project Manager. Chris grew up in Germany in a events organisation family business and has also worked as Business Development Manager in the Australian Construction Industry. As an avid free diver and kite surfer, there is a good chance you will find him somewhere in or on the ocean.
Eunice moved to Perth four years ago to pursue an Honours degree in Media and Communications at The University of WA, a period when she was also actively involved in college activities. Prior to her move from Singapore, Eunice worked as Public Relations Assistant at a PR agency and also had stints of work experience in organisations such as Citibank, Singapore Press Holdings, and Singapore Economic Development Board. Eunice is curious about future technologies and enjoys exploring the world.

Holly has over 9 years of experience in the resources sector, as both a geologist and technical manager. She now assists our industry partners to leverage the power of the crowd through international competitions.
Ben has been writing code and delivering web solutions of all sizes for over 10 years. He is a passionate Open Source contributor and has been recognised as a top contributor to the Drupal project. Ben led the Drupal 8 Migration initiative, is a core maintainer for the Drupal 8 Migration API, the Drupal to Drupal Migration system, the Block API and is a member of the Drupal Security Team.
Ben founded and ran Code Drop until its acquisition in 2015. Through Ben’s Drupal contributions, Code Drop became known worldwide and was recognised as a top 10 company contributor to the Drupal project. He was responsible for the Code Drop infrastructure and development tools where he introduced dev-ops using Ansible and Docker and advocated for high quality technical outcomes by introducing testing guidelines and continuous integration and delivery infrastructure which both increased quality and the speed of projects.
