Fitness for Work
Woodside is seeking innovative approaches to the continuous appraisal of a person's Fitness for Work.
In general, a person’s Fitness for Work is made up of a broad range of conditions, including their musculoskeletal fitness, fatigue, level of hydration, mental health and influence of alcohol and other drugs (AOD).
Presently, individual Fitness for Work is tested either periodically (e.g. upon employment or routinely every two years), randomly (in Perth or on-site on mobilisation), or for cause (i.e. if there is reasonable cause to suspect a person to be unfit for work). This leaves extended periods between testing when Fitness for Work may change significantly.
We believe there is an opportunity to optimise this: by enabling an individual’s Fitness for Work to be monitored frequently or even continuously, such that the risk of allowing a staff member to work while unfit may be reduced.
The ability for staff and contractors to monitor Fitness for Work (and also environmental exposure) using novel methods is expected to improve HSEQ performance and general wellbeing by contributing to the continuous health and safety monitoring of employees.
