Unearthed Perth 201609 Apr - 11 Apr
From Idea to Prototype on Resource Challenges in just a Weekend
This competition has finished.
Woodside is seeking innovative approaches to reduce the return rate of materials delivered to site (approximately 30%) and achieve the industry average of 10%.
Delivery of materials to site is a major aspect of any operator’s business. Currently, Woodside returns 30% of delivered materials. Industry-wide, the rate of return is 10%. Materials returned are repackaged and returned to stock, requiring extensive paperwork and processing by personnel. In some cases, returned materials can not be returned to stock and need to be disposed. Clearly, an opportunity exists to improve the material return rate and therefore avoid unnecessary write downs.
Demand for maintenance materials is driven by Work Orders (WOs) which include an Equipment Driven Task List (EDTL)/Bill of Materials (BOM).
Woodside’s current system automatically replenishes materials in stock, which may result in reaching maximum quantity levels. If such a point is reached, the material that is to be returned will not be accepted and will instead be disposed of. In addition some purchases are of non-standard materials that, if returned, can also not be held in stock and require disposal.
Data, key questions and potential areas of focus will be made available at the opening night of Unearthed Perth. Data is only available to those who formally register for the event via the Unearthed website.
