Understanding Chain of Custody for Drilling Samples
One of the important outcomes of exploration is the collection of samples for further analysis. This generally requires the preparation of sample material in the field and then passing it onto external warehouses and facilities during this journey to the laboratory. It becomes challenging to know where a sample is during this process as well as understanding where potential bottlenecks may be. Knowing where a sample is, its association with a particular drill hole or despatch, and how long it has been there is critical in ensuring an efficient turnaround time. Being able to track the entire chain of custody of a sample ensures the investment in drilling and collection is maximised.
Challenge: How can you improve the process of tracking and handling drill samples?
