Unearthed Perth 201609 Apr - 11 Apr
From Idea to Prototype on Resource Challenges in just a Weekend
This competition has finished.
Woodside is seeking innovative approaches to better utilise deck space of offshore supply boats.
Currently, one supply vessel and two offtake support vessels are used to transport cargo to offshore assets on a regular basis. The supply vessel has 800 m2 of deck space and at present 60-80% is utilised. The cargo is loaded onto the vessel on a priority basis for the needs of the offshore facility. The manner, in which it is loaded is based on destination, offshore asset restrictions (e.g. crane reach) and compliance with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (e.g. dangerous goods). The final decision on the positioning of the cargo is made by the Master of Vessels on the day of loading. The Master of Vessels requires a certain amount of excess space on the deck for walkways etc. A typical voyage includes: transportation of cargo to the facility and the transport of empty containers and back loaded cargo from the facility.
Woodside wishes to investigate opportunities to free up deck space on these vessels. The ultimate intention is to be able to include more offshore assets on each voyage.
Data will be made available at the opening night of Unearthed Perth. Data is only available to those who formally register for the event via the Unearthed website.
