Automating Uranium Exploration Using Oil and Gas Data
Uranium is currently explored using several different remote sensing and surface sampling techniques. Remote sensing techniques include gravity, magnetic, seismic and EM surveys which help identify subsurface structures that are related to Uranium deposits. After a prospective geological setting has been identified using geophysics to outline faulting and favourable lithologies, the area can be sampled using geochemistry on a reconnaissance scale. However, the use of geochemistry is limited by the fact that these deposits have a small footprint and usually occur at significant depths.
