The integration of principal component analysis (PCA) and linear regression on geochemical data as an approach for mineral exploration targeting
In order to achieve the goal of generating targets for detailed exploration under burden, the geochemical database was treated and filtered so as to have only weakly digested soil samples. Since Principal Component Analysis requires the variables (chemical elements) to be arranged in columns, the original dataset was modified to display one sample per row. In addition, the power of this tool to identify patterns in structured data based on variance distribution is as great as the number of variables available, and there must not be any empty cell (no missing concentration).
